Return
Marcel was one of the best guys I have ever known. My kind of guy. I
only knew him for about a year.
He was introduced by a common friend to join my pool team. I was
hesitant to allow it, not knowing him. I am very glad I did.
He turned out to be some of the best of company. Such a good spirit to
be around. He was humble, modest, fun, smart, and a good sport.
I think the thing I liked best about him is that it seemed like he
never was judging me even though I would say things that were in
opposition to his opinion. He was respectful of my opinion and of me
as a person, unconditionally.
In the short time I knew him he improved at pool very quickly. I came
to enjoy talking to him about philosophy, art, music, design, and many
other topics.
I admired his independence. He embraced life fully. He was a
leader. He led by example.
He was into so many things. Another thing I really liked about
him. Biking, motorcycles, music, pool, art, writing, neuroscience,
etc. Listening to some of his music now makes me wish I had heard
about it when he was still around. I would have liked to talk to him
about it.
I am saddened to learn of his death. In my gut I had this very strong
feeling that he was going to do something that would change the world
in a major way.
In retrospect, I think he did change the world by living in the way he
lived and by how he related to the people in his life.
The world is less of a place without him. I am thankful that I got to
know him and am saddened that I didn't know him better.
