Subject: still alive
Got your message - I'm still pretty much alive. I would call you but
I'm subject to some fairly ghastly roaming charges out here. I've been
camping in the badlands and blackhills for the past few days;
beautiful country. I rode all night and feel asleep at a scenic
overlook on Saturday morning. I'm sporting a pretty lively red sunburn
now that compliments my leathers nicely. Yesterday I came around a
curve in the road in Custer state park and there was a bison the size
of an suv in the middle of the road. I slowed to a stop and we looked
at each other for a while, then he ambled to the side of the
road. There are motorcycles everywhere, but all the motorcycle stores
in the local towns are Harley boutiques that don't sell anything but
the special harley grade oil (I need oil). Decided to splurge and get
a hotel room here in Spearfish tonight, so I could clean up, charge my
phone (it has been dead), and head to the local shop motorcycle shop
in the morning. Heading to my aunt and uncle's ranch in northeast
Montana in a few days; a little nervous about the gravel road, but
worse comes to worse I'll go 10 miles an hour. How's the Louis? A lot
of people have been asking about the flooding when I tell them where
I'm from.

Subject: Re: Pictures and Journey
Good to hear from you. Yikes about the stitches; some things you learn
the hard way, I s'pose. Battle scars. I'm in Whitewater, Montana right
now (visiting my Aunt and cousins, town of ~20 people), after several
days of camping in the Black Hills and Badlands. Still heading up to
Vancouver, then down the coast. Taking longer than I thought - perhaps
I'll be heading back through St. Louis the third week of July? I fell
asleep in the sun and now my face is falling off. I would have liked
to have been on those bike rides. My email access is pretty limited
out here, but when I have some more time in one of the cities, I'll
try to post some of the pictures I've been taking. What's yer address,
by the way? Hope the living is large,
Marcel
